RATING: “PUSH PLAY”
Scottish indie pop band Camera Obscura fifth LP Desire Lines is a stellar combination of musical whimsy and chilled-to-the-max vocals. Front-woman Tracyanne Campbell takes an endless-summer lyrical approach to her band’s sun bleached stylings; the results are stellar.
The album is full of earworm hooks that sparkle with emotional depth. Perhaps the greatest example of this can be found in “William’s Heart”, pitting lovelorn romanticism against emotional immaturity, “…to die in the arms of a 20 year old…”. The effort is altogether excellent, filled with an ocean of bright, white light.
Excellent. Indie. Pop. “PUSH PLAY”
