I didn’t really know what to expect once approved to cover Carrie Underwood here in El Paso last week, but boy I’m sure glad things worked out the way they did. Of course, I had heard of her, who hasn’t, but Country or Country Pop is nowhere my thing, but after last Wednesday night, all I can say is, Wow!! After my research on this young lady, it’s a double wow now, it’s not what she’s done professionally, it’s what she hasn’t done. This list of awards and achievements is long and prestigious that she has accomplished, mutable Grammys, 9 releases in 17 years, 6 headlining tours, 7 counting her current endeavor, 4 co headliners, sharing the stage with the likes of Keith Urban, Eric Chruch and Miranda Lambert, she’s also a published author, radio and TV, she owns her own fitness clothing line and let’s not forget she won American Idol in 05, yeah, what hasn’t she done and truth be told, I don’t see her slowing down in the near future, the sky is the limit for Carrie Underwood, and that is the understatement of the year.

Carrie hit the stage at 8:15, 15 minutes late, but that didn’t matter to this West Texas audience, speaking of the audience, it seemed it was mostly women, women in shorts and cowboy boots and let’s not forget those hats, a sea of cowboy hats, oh yes, it’s coming into focus now, a night of Country Pop, peppered with a little rock and roll, with a front person who is no stranger to the stage, yep, we’re in for a real treat tonight. During her 22-song set list and again, not familiar with her songs, I noticed a calm if you will and then out of nowhere, you’re neck deep at a rock concert, the ebb and flow of her music is truly remarkable. She also throws herself into her performance with abandon from the opening cut to GnR’s Paradise City at the end of the show. A Top-drawer evening of Country, Pop, Rock and Soul from one of the absolute best in the business, buy the ticket, take the ride and tell your friends, Carrie Underwood’s coming to town, vamanos!!
