Pissing Razors is on a mission, a death march though the desert, if you will and it started last Sunday here in El Paso when our local boys kicked off their Vengeance is Ours Tour here in West Texas, a tour that will take the boys though Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Indiana, Illinois and ending on the 28th in Milwaukee, Wisconsion for the Milwaukee Metalfest which Lamb of God is headlining by the way, for the Razors, it’s their 4th time playing this epic event, as fans back here in El Paso, we couldn’t be prouder of our hometown boys representing West Texas, yeah, Texas Groove Metal at its best.
A brief history, the band was founded in 1993 by the Garcia Brothers, Danny and Eddy, so between 93 and 04, multiple lineup changes in every position, Cesar Soto of Ministry play guitar for a period as well as Andre Acosta did vocals for a couple years, Andre is the frontman for Scattered Storm, a very popular local band here in El Paso, the current lineup, these members too came and went during those 11 years and still managed to produce several releases. In 2004, the band took a break which in the end, lasted 10 years, side projects and business to run kept the boys busy during those years and to everyone’s surprise in 2014 they announce, Pissing Razors are back. To their credit, 7 studio releases and 1 live album in the past 30 years, the latest Eulogy Death March was released in the fall of 21, their first in 18 years. In my opinion, this band has a Pantera/ Skinlab spin to it, Joe Rodriguez is a madman on stage, prowling the stage as if looking for someone or something to devour, Geo and Eddy are the rock solid backbone on Bass and Drums and Mat, what can I say about Mat Lynch, the ever constant, never-ending master on the guitar, I love watching this guy play, truly poetry in motion.
This kick off on the 13th at Raves also had some of the best local bands in support, Know Suffer, Ojo Malo, Dawn of Flames, Prey of the Godz and Genocide Junkies, all top drawer, all brought their A game and why wouldn’t they, they were picked to open for the Razors, that’s pretty cool for this vicinity, we love our Razors. It was a great turnout, the elite of our local scene were all in attendance, as I knew it would be, this makes my 4th time covering the Razors, 4 times in 9 years, they don’t play much here, but when they do its a big deal here and I like to be right up-front shooting.
In closing, this tour may be heading your way, check the dates, if you’re in Milwaukee next Sunday, check out the Metalfest and go see those Texas boys because I can promise you this, a Pissing Razors performance will leave a lasting impression, to have your ass handed to you West Texas style will be the order of the day, it’ll be fun, I promise.
