Incubus US Tour 2023 El Paso County Coliseum El Paso, Texas 22 August 23
It was a Nu Metal kind of evening this past Tuesday night when Incubus unleashed its US World Tour 2023 at the El Paso County Coliseum here in El Paso, Texas, truth be told, this was one I was looking forward to. They played here a couple of years back at Speaking Rock Entertainment Center, another fantastic venue we have here in the borderland, but unfortunately, I missed it, but not this time and I might add, my first time seeing them, so I was pretty excited, needless to say.
The band has been in existence since 91, founded by Brandon Boyd, Mike Einziger and Jose Pasillas, who are the only original members and all went to high school together by the way, have produced 8 albums in 22 years, toured the world with the likes of Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, Korn, 311 and Pearl Jam. Festivals such as Download in England, Rock am Ring in Germany and Nova Rock in Austria are the norm for this epic funk, pop rock band, touring is second nature to guys, they’re on the road until 3 November, Las Vegas is the last stop.
In support was Paris Jackson and Badflower, Paris hit the stage at 7:15, I didn’t know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised by her performance, I felt she loosened up a bit towards the end of her set, I do hope she returns, would like to see her again, second up was Badflower, and they came with their A game for sure, high energy from frontman Josh Katz was nonstop for the 45 minute set he commanded, they too, I hope return, both acts did well, got the crowd warmed up for this West Texas crowd, who packed the Coliseum as it should be.
9:30, the stage was set, all eyes front and this audience was biting at the bit, house lights go down and Brandon Boyd strolls on to stage, it was total bedlam for the next 75 minutes, they went through a 19-song set list like a hot knife though butter, songs like Nice to Know You, Wish You Were Here and Drive had everyone singing every word to every song, I love to see people having a great time and Tuesday was no exception. Check out the tour dates and if they are coming even close to you, I highly recommend this event, definitely worth the price of a ticket, you will not be disappointed.
