RATING: “PUSH PLAY”
After his hardcore punk band Million Dead split in 2005, England’s Frank Turner continued on as a singer-songwriter with a back-to-basics mentality. Fueled by a DIY spirit he has successfully went from playing small pubs to headlining a sold-out show at Wembley Stadium in 2012.
The fifth full length album Tape Deck Heart by this solo folk-punk troubadour does not disappoint. First single “Recovery” lurches like a roller coaster, from lovesick heartache to fiery angst.
The best thing about Turner is his dedication to the ethos of his punk past. His affection for acoustic instrumentation never belies, and actually enhances that fact.
Badass. Folk. Punk. “PUSH PLAY”
